Along with my solar dyeing I've been having fun experimenting with fabric sunprints lately, inspired by Mary from Mary & Patch's experiments which she shared on our creative space a couple of weeks ago. If you are interested in having a go she has really clear directions on how to make these graphic prints.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with these, but I'm having lots of fun playing, including sewing this piece above for a brooch.
p.s. I did my first dying with a lamp as it was dark and rainy, and I prefer the silk paint on the right, the other separates on my cloth.
Thanks as always to Kirsty for giving us this space to share.

lovely :) I saw these on another blog but on paper instead, that's cool you can do it on fabric too. Really want to do this with my 4 year old, if we get some sun for long enough (lots of rain here lately!)
ReplyDeleteThat is frickn' awesome!! Love that idea.

So pretty! Maybe if you did the prints on really big panels of semi sheer fabric and could use them as curtains? I don't know if it would work, but I think the prints would look pretty lush with the sun shining through them. Thanks for sharing the link to Mary's instructions.
ReplyDeleteYou just love getting your hands dirty! (I'm onto you - I can see the fingerprints on the bottle). Love fun experimentery (and making messy art)...
ReplyDeleteI love these! They look fabulous :) I have sheets and sheets of the photographic sunprint kits (from many visits to gallery shops etc) but I've yet to actually do it... must schedule in school holiday activity! Thanks for this Susie - great idea :) Kx
ReplyDeleteFantastic results! And I love that shade of blue too. x
ReplyDeleteAlways wanted to try sunprints, haven't got round to it yet ... one day

ReplyDeleteI have so got to try this! That top image is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteOh that little brooch is wonderful, as are the sun prints themselves. A friend has been experimenting with printing on paper using a similar technique. It's so effective!
ReplyDeleteThe brooch you received is just gorgeous - I love the fact that it's a three dimensional birdhouse.
SO many thanks again for organising this swap. What a great experience.
Those prints are divine!
